Neenah, Wisconsin — On April 8th, the Neenah Historical Society will bring home the Olen Collection, a long-standing loaned exhibit that has been on display at Neenah City Hall since 1978. This transfer wasn't initiated by the Society but is happening in coordination with construction updates at City Hall.
In line with its role as a steward of historical materials, the Society will conduct a thorough inventory and review of the collection in accordance with relevant federal standards, including the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). When suitable, the Society will also engage with local tribal representatives during this process.
Items not subject to consultation or other legal requirements will continue to be held in the public trust under the care of the Neenah Historical Society. The Society remains dedicated to responsible stewardship, lawful compliance, and respectful collaboration as this work moves forward.
